The First of the Last Amens

As oven raises bread,

Sepulchre raised Him from the dead.

The firstfruits of the deep;

The first to wake from fallen sleep.

By first man, all to death connect;

By this First Man, all resurrect.

All sons of Adam die,

All in Christ shall quicken nigh.

Indeed, we all shall come alive.

But all things in their order, this:

Christ the first to enter bliss.

Then at His Dawn, not one shall miss

Of those who met Him with a kiss—

Indeed, those brothers who are His

Must join Him in reliveliness.

Then comes the end,

when He, the kingdom, faithful sends

to Father God, on Whom depends

All life and death and whys and whens.

Yah masterf'ly creation mends

Until the First Man fends at last—

At the final trumpet blast—

The villain death, the last He'll rend,

And to oblivion He'll send,

Then sit to His new Garden tend.

And then shall all men give the first

Of the last Amens.
