This Miraculous Son (I Samuel 1:12-28)by amoswilson |
When I fasted in mourning and cried,
While my rival provoked me to grief,
And the man that I love chose to chide,
Since I would not drink, nor would I eat.
Though undrinking, rebuked as if drunk,
By the war-weary priest of the Lord,
By this final rebuke I am stung,
Yet still I’ll be gracious in word.
Now I cast off my sorrowful face.
Having faith that God heard my request.
And he gave me a son by His grace,
Evermore His great name will I bless.
May your soul live! Sir, I was the one,
Who had prayed at your feet in her tears.
Now behold this miraculous son!
He will worship God all of his years.

Lament (Psalm 42:6-11)
by amos wilson
I’m cut off from my people,
And my heart fills with woe,
As I try to remember,
All the graces You show,
As an outcast I wonder,
With me soul sinking low,
Are You, Lord, yet my rock of salvation?
All the breakers wash over,
As I struggle and drown,
By the billows I’m swallowed,
And the current holds me down,
And the deep spouts of water,
Further threats do compound,
Are you watching, Lord, from Your high station?
Yet from sunrise to sunrise,
God is yet by my side,
And from sunset to sunset,
In the night He abides,
For His love never eases,
He is near when I cried,
I will sing of His praise and be patient.
Though my enemies mock me,
And they stretch out a sword,
In my bones they have struck me,
Saying, ‘where is your Lord?’
He is standing beside me,
In His arms I am born,
Yes, my soul, He is still my salvation.
